Mark your calendars and get ready for TurkFest in WorldFest 2009 on October 24.

Prepare yourself for another exciting festival of dance, culture and food!

Behind every rhythmic beat of the drum, behind every twirling handkerchief, every solemn poem and hopeful song lies a story waiting to be told. Behind every textile design and trousseau lies a tradition, a family custom, a story waiting to unfold.

At TurkFest 2009, you are invited to join DFW Turkish community in exploring these real stories that bring our culture, our music, dance and arts to life. On the weekend of October 24, you will experience Turkish music, arts, culture and history at the Addison Circle Park from October 24, 2009, Noon - 10 PM and October 25, 2009, Noon - 6 PM.

Experience first-hand the hospitality that defines Turkish culture as you sip your Turkish coffee and listen to stories passed on for generations. Learn to speak a few phrases of the Turkish language and live “Turkish Wedding" We have brought together artists, musicians, dancers and adventurers from Turkey and  the United States to introduce DFW to the rich artistry that exemplifies all things Turkish, as well as Turkish Kebabs, Borek's, Baklava, Turkish Tea to taste Turkish Cuisine.

Addison Park's main stage will feature continuous entertainment including three times World Champion Turkish folk dance Ensemble, University of EGE from Turkey and Live Turkish Music by Turkish Musician from Turkey with their outstanding performers. Turks love to dance and no celebration is complete without dancing. Dance American style, dance Turkish style….just dance!

Turkish music is as diverse as the dances of Turkey. In addition to live performances of Turkish contemporary music by Yasin Uygunca, other participants include Fashion Show by Nisan Design, and Turkish-American children's activities will share his/her adventures and mission of inspiring and informing young people.

Here is an amazing story at TurkFest.

The 600 year-old Grand Bazaar in Istanbul is legendary and world famous. It is where you go to buy Turkish arts and crafts, and Jewelery. The TurkFest will be a close second with TurkFest’s version of the Bazaar. After getting your Turkish coffee in an impressive ‘yurt’  visit the booths that sell jewelry, carpets and crafts and treat yourself to something Turkish.
